One essential aspect of childcare is education. In a country where a large proportion of the population cannot afford to feed their family members, fulfilling obligations for educational development is an insurmountable challenge.
According to a UNICEF (2014) “School dropouts are the new silent emergency”. School dropouts are defined as children who cannot attend school because of poverty, abuse, or neglect. Our outreach work has highlighted the alarming and increasing number of children unable to acquire the funds for school.
As a consequence of economic instability, the lack of infrastructure, social inequality, and poverty there is a fundamental lack of education throughout Uganda. Children are "chased away" from school due to the inability to pay school fees or purchase basic requirements for class attendance such as shoes, food, books, uniforms etc. Girls often miss out on weeks of classes because their guardians cannot afford sanitary products.
The problem has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

You can choose the payment frequency that works best for you.
All contributions make a considerable impact.
To ensure consistency for the children, we suggest if you choose to fully sponsor a child your donation can be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.
How long are the children in the program?
We monitor all our sponsored children until they graduate from high school or move out of our service area. Due to the transient state of many families and the difficult circumstances in which these children reside, we cannot predict or guarantee how long a child will remain in our sponsorship program, although every effort is made to protect each child for as long as possible.
Your commitment lasts for as long as you wish to support a child, or until that child graduates from high school. When a child leaves the sponsorship program the hope is that you will choose a new child to sponsor.
What happens if I can no longer provide sponsorship?
You may find you have to discontinue sponsoring your child. When this happens, we will endeavor to find another sponsor for them.
Some things in life are out of our control, circumstances change, this is a life lesson that all children learn, and managed in the correct way contributes to healthy development.
Please continue to correspond with your child. Your letters would be such an encouragement and provide a continuity that will be beneficial to their mental health.
